Guests from Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) were warmly welcomed by City Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia to a Shadowing Program which intends to share COB’s best practices that may be adopted by other countries.
Messrs. ZawHtet Aung and MyoHtet, representatives from Knowledge Propagation Society of Myanmar, accompanied by Ms. Gabriela Macasinag of the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA), came to visit and scrutinize the implementation of the PGS in a local government unit such as the City Government of Balanga, an institutionalized partner in the Performance Governance System pathway.
While at City Hall, visitors were introduced to the different departments in the premises. While there, they were briefed about the city’s history as well as the developments that have come upon it through the years.
Core Team Chairman Myrna B. Roman, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of Strategy Management (OSM) Edmer C. Fabian, members of PGS Core Team and other selected initiative and VAC leaders also discussed the impact of PGS on the realization of the City’s vision and presented the city’s PGS journey. PGS has made the city government more transparent in the provision of public services, as highlighted by the Core Team.
Other discussions about strategy, organization, finance, and citizenry were conveyed by the Core Team, with members sharing their own experiences about the challenges they had gone through in the process of refining the city’s vision. The infrastructure and development of Plaza Mayor, public market, and Tortugas Bay Park, now the Balanga City Wetland and Nature Park, caught the interest of the visitors and earned their compliments.
Further, how a VAC conducts its Weekly Operation Review Meeting was observed by these counterpart visitors from Asia. VACs examined were: Huwag Maging S.A.D.; HAPPY Club; Barangay DRRM; City of Balanga Information Hub; and Sponsorship of Forum — all of which presented their updates and future plans for the City.
These foreign guests were also given the opportunity to visit the LGU’s initiative sites such as the information Kiosks, free public Wi-Fi and other remarkable areas in the city— all of which got positive feedback from the visitors.
The visitors left with a first-hand experience of the amazing Balangueno hospitality.
