With the theme “Empowering the Poor and the Vulnerable towards Job Creation and Poverty Eradication” the City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO) celebrated Cooperative Month at Plaza Mayor de Balanga on October 9.
The celebration started with a parade by the different cooperatives from Doña Francisca Park to Plaza Mayor de Balanga. A ribbon cutting followed to formally open the cooperative trade fair.
More than a dozen cooperatives from all over the city and nearby towns joined the event to showcase their products. They were given opportunity to market their products for three days.
The three-day event had different activities highlighting each day. Day One was used to set up booths to showcase different products, and the symbolic ribbon cutting. The second day saw “Oral Hygiene Awareness/ Team Building” activities. The last day was reserved for “Meat Processing (Chicken Ham, Chicken Relleno)” activity. The activities were designed to further promote CCDO’s mandate. At the same time, they were opportunities to attend to the needs of members of cooperatives to supplement and enhance their capabilities in order to become productive members of their organization.
Vice-Mayor Vianca Lita V. Gozon and Chairperson of Committee on Cooperatives Councilor Jorescel Panganiban graced the fete together with city department heads. By Cyrus Dela Cruz
