The search for outstanding police officer in Bataan is on with the launching Tuesday of the project attended by officials of the province, police and non government organization at the Crown Royale Hotel in Balanga City. The Lions Club of Bataan (Host), Dinalupihan and Orion Galaxy sponsored the Search for Ten Outstanding Mamang Pulis of Bataan. “In our own little way, we want to motivate the police not only in Bataan but throughout the Philippines by highlighting their good deeds and qualities,” organizing committee chairman Lion Rene Venegas said.

St. Joseph Cathedral in Balanga City unveiled 15 life-sized images of saints at its façade on Thursday with Bishop Socrates Villegas blessing the sculptured images in the ceremonies officiated by the parish priest, Rev. Percival Medina, with the assistance of provincial and municipal officials.

BALANGA CITY, Bataan - A newly upgraded primary school in an upland village here helped this city top the National Achievement Test (NAT) given to elementary students nationwide last March. Pupils of the refurbished G.L. David Elementary School in Upper Tuyo, about five kilometers from the city proper, might have had to walk through cogon-covered rolling hills daily to attend classes, but this did not stop them from topping the NAT.

BALANGA CITY, Bataan --- Barangay Cataning of the City of Balanga was adjudged by the Department of Agrarian Reform as the most progressive agrarian community (national level for Luzon). Cataning Barangay Captain Benjie P. Meriño and Kagawad Cresencio del Marca accompanied by City Agriculturist Nerissa Mateo attended the awarding ceremony held recently at the Seamo Innotech building in Commonwealth Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. The awarding ceremony was part of the DAR’s CARP Recognition Day program.

Balanga City – Some 1,050 less privileged families in 25 barangays here have received health cards yesterday for them to have access to government health facilities and social services at affordable cost.

The Dep-Ed Division of the City of Balanga reached another milestone topping anew the National Achievement Test (NAT) at the Elementary level in Region III held in February this year. For the past four consecutive years said division had been consistently ranked first in the region and ranked third in the national level in 2007.

The blessing and turn-over ceremony of Logofind buildings in sixteen (16) public elementary schools of Dep Ed, Division of Balanga City was held on June 2 – 6 2008. The construction of said buildings was made possible through the efforts of Governor Enrique T. Garcia, Jr. Congressman Albert S. Garcia and Mayor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III. A schedule was prepared to ensure that the blessings and turn-over ceremony will be completed in a week’s time.

To improve and further intensify the implementation of Balanga’s Solid Waste Management Program, the City Government launched the Balik Bayong / Basket and Junkshop ng Bayan Program on June 14 at the Balanga City Public Market.

Balanga City Mayor Joet Garcia and Pilar Mayor Charlie Pizarro, together with their respective Barangay Captains and heads of various agencies made a mutual agreement in a meeting held at the Balangueño Hall, Dilig Building May 23, 2008.
The Mutual Agreement has something to do with joining their forces and respective subordinates to work collectively in cleaning, improving and converting the Talisay River into a tourist spot.

As an annual tradition of homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the city government held the Santa Cruzan 2008 on May 31.
Sangguniang Panglungsod members, barangay captains, and city employees were all at hand to support and participate in the said activity which is part of the city government’s cultural promotion program.
