This year’s Nutrition Month will not end without encouraging the parents through their children to start their early stage of life by eating healthy and nutritious foods. Parents of different day care students enthusiastically participated in the annual celebration themed as, “Tamang Nutrisyon Alamin, Lutuin at Gawin”.
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Ms. Gloria M. Abejar and City Health Officer Dr. Mariano Antonio T. Banzon, celebrated this year’s Nutrition Month with a cooking contest.
Twenty-nine mothers participated in the contest and demonstrated their expertise in preparing healthy foods for their children. First prize was won by a mother from Bagong Silang who cooked bola-bolang gulay with tamis-asim-kalabasa. Cupang West and Munting Batangas copped 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
City Committee Chair on Health Councilor Jernie Jett V. Nisay works closely with CSWD and CHO to campaign vigorously for this advocacy of improving healthy lifestyle. He constantly reminds Balangueños about the benefits of leading a proper way of life, with emphasis on eating a healthy diet and refraining from vices.
City Councilor Benigno P. Meriño, likewise, gave reminders about eating a proper diet early on in life, and that observing a healthy diet will lead to better life expectancy.
Dr. Bhen Anthony P. Bautista, rural health physician, welcomed participants in behalf of Dr. Mark Banzon. He also emphasized the role proper nutrition plays to enjoy good health. As a medical practitioner, he shared his vast knowledge on how to be physically fit all the time and prompted everyone not to hesitate to ask for medical assistance when feelings of discomfort occur.
