In celebration of Healthy Lifestyle Month, the City Health Office spearheaded an activity titled “ZUMBALE”. Balangueño health buffs and dance fanatics did not miss out on the event which was highlighted by a dance parade along Capitol Drive.
The “Zumbale,” or “Zumba-while-walking” dance parade started from Bataan People’s Center and wound its way to Plaza Mayor de Balanga. City Mayor Francis Garcia and Committee Chair on Health Councilor Jett Nisay led the parade which was participated in by city officials and employees, prominent guests from FCTC Alliance, Philippines (FCAP), ASH, Department of Health (DOH), The Union, Provincial Health Office, PDO, Multi-Sector Governance Coalition, Bataan Medical Society, Bataan Pediatric Society, provincial capitol employees, DepEd SDO, BNHS, COBNHS and other selected elementary schools in Balanga City.
Alongside the event was City of Balanga’s Re-launching of Anti-Smoking Program “YokoSaYosi”.
Mayor Francis Garcia issued a strong reminder to everyone to observe a healthy lifestyle. Quitting smoking will not only lengthen the life of the person hooked on it, but it will also help minimize air pollution- all for a better future for our youth…the very reason for all the different plans of the City Government.
Dr. Enrique “Eric” Tayag, the dancing Assistant Secretary of DOH Philippines who has always shown his unwavering and untiring support to COB’s health projects was also present. To express his delight and care for the City, Tayag led the dance finale adding more luster to the event.
A symbolic Breaking of Cigarette ceremony was held at Plaza Mayor led by Mayor Francis and attended by VIP guests and other agencies. This was followed by the releasing of balloons symbolic of the jump-start to the achievement of a Tobacco-Free and Smoke-Free Balanga City. It also marked the end of the afternoon affair. #YokoSaYosi #YoYo. Cyrus Dela Cruz
